Single greatest thing I did this year was stick to my book club with my friends. And we have been asked how we structure it. Here's how we do our book club. There is a pretty small group of us, like six or seven, and all of us are very committed. That's super important. Everyone's gotta be in it. We meet either twice a month or once a month and we split a book into two meetings. So we should be and have been tracking on reading a book per month. We switch off who hosts every month, and the host is responsible for dinner. Some people go all out, some people get pizza. It doesn't matter. You're hosting, you kind of make the theme towards the book that we're reading, or if it aligns with a holiday, they'll do, like, a holiday. One of our friends does a slideshow. Again, totally optional, but it does help focus everyone. And the slideshow is like made on Canva, we airplay it on the TV and it asks questions about the book, um, and the chapters we read, and it helps create, a group dialogue. My absolute favourite thing that we have done is we cast who the characters are as celebrities, and everyone kind of, like, votes. If a book that we read is a movie or is going to be a movie, we will do, like, a book club group outing and go see the movie. Every time we meet, we open up our calendars and we pick the next day that we are going to meet. We pick what chapter we're reading to at that meeting for the next time. Lastly, when we select a new book, we usually all will come with different ideas of what we wanna read. We read the description and then we kind of do a vote on what we want the next book to be. We typically do switch genres so that we're reading a wide range of different kinds of books. We have met for a whole year and it has seriously changed our lives. It has created community. It's given us a new hobby. I wasn't a big, like, fiction reader, and now I am. It's given us, like, something to do on weekdays. That's another tidbit. We always meet on a weekday. It's the best.
