Their other posts in the index, biggest breakout first.
I've been feeling so creatively uninspired lately, so I went to my first MoMA drawing night by myself to recharge with no plans and no pressure. I've always wanted to try this and I happened to be in Midtown, so I was really happy the stars aligned. The sessions run from 5:30 to 7:30 PM and I was able to snag a last minute reservation just a few hours before, luckily. Museum admission is also free, so shout out to Uniqlo for sponsoring these nights. Every week the drawings take place in a different room, so you're constantly sketching new subject matter if you choose to make this a weekly ritual. I was genuinely inspired by how many people were participating. It was a packed house full of young folks, older folks, and even a few monks too. All of the sketching materials are provided and they even give you a few prompts so you don't get too bored drawing one thing. Everyone was in their own little quiet bubble and I absolutely loved it. So if you've been feeling like you wanna just turn your brain off and make art, this is something I highly recommend. And another amazing perk is that afterwards you can wander around the museum and enjoy the galleries. Lastly, if you're into finding little creative rituals like this around the city, hi, I'm Chloe and you can follow me as I share more little ways I'm trying to make life feel better.
