Things that don't make sense to someone who doesn't have borderline personality disorder. Borderlines can experience rage. And disclaimer, this is not me excusing the rage, I'm just explaining why it happens. So a borderline can see black when they are too overwhelmed and go from zero to 100 and not even recognize who they are in that moment or what they're doing. And the best way to explain why this happens is, borderlines lack to regulate their own emotions. Because when they are younger, they often dealt with all these big emotions by themselves. They didn't have a parent to guide them through those emotions. Often they were yelled at for having those emotions, or thrown into bedrooms, timeouts. While anger, sadness, and all those emotions are very valid emotions, they were never taught how to cope with those emotions. So now later on in life, when anything causes them stress or there's chaos, we lose our ability to respond appropriately because we don't know how to act in those situations. And it's been programmed in our brains for so long to respond that way, that learning how to do the opposite is hard.
