Boundaries are things that you set for yourself to follow not things you force other people to do. My therapist ever told me about boundaries. Boundaries are things that you set for yourself to follow not things you force other people to do. And when you know what your boundaries are, you can do this silently. You don't even necessarily have to announce them to people. And that totally changed my brain because I always thought boundaries were something that I had to enforce on somebody else. And when people wouldn't follow them, I would get upset. But now I know boundaries are things that I control. For example, one of my favorite boundaries are time limits. If I'm with someone that triggers me for too long, it just doesn't work. I don't tell that person, of course, be polite and kind. Like don't agree to go on a trip with someone for two weeks. If you just don't think you're gonna be able to handle that, you know what I mean? Like things like that. So time limits, um, what I'm saying yes or no to, um, what I'm choosing to do with a certain person or not. Like, I don't think that's gonna work.
