Alex Warren just showed everyone how you turn a PR nightmare into brilliant marketing. In case you missed it, his performance at the Grammys turned into a disaster because of technical difficulties. He was basically hearing the wrong sound mix in his ear while performing live. So he turns to social media and posts this video of what he was hearing in real time while he was performing. And it goes totally viral, racking up over a hundred million views. Then he uses the spike in attention to start teasing a new song, and it redirects everybody. And guys, this is something every single creator, marketer, and brand should be taking notes on. Alex could have easily just been mortified and laid low for a while, but then he would have left the press control the narrative. Instead, he called out exactly what happened and showed us that he's human. And people love and respect transparency like that. Brands like Duolingo and Ryanair use this strategy all the time. Anytime there's a negative narrative about something going on, they confront it head on and joke about it. I can nearly guarantee you Alex went over a whole new audience from the whole mishap. Let me know what you guys think.
