Okay, Popflex just showed every brand how to turn a total nightmare into genius marketing. This is their viral pirouette skirt, and it completely blew up when Taylor Swift wore it to play pickleball a couple years ago. The problem is, dupes started popping up left and right trying to take credit for this small business's design. Luckily, Popflex had a patent and was able to get the dupes off the shelves, but they wound up with a warehouse full of waste. So their founder found a couple of designers to take the material from the dupes and turn them into these beautiful, original dresses. Then they sold these kits so customers could literally receive this dupe material in the mail and create their own dresses. And guys, these kits sold out in five minutes, and 100% of the proceeds went to the designers. Not only does this speak up for small businesses everywhere, but this is such a good lesson in how to build brand loyalty, because people weren't buying the kits, they were buying into Popflex's mission of sustainability. And when your brand stands for something deeper than the product itself, you don't just get customers, you get a literal cult-like following. Kudos to the Popflex team on this one. Let me know what you guys think of the initiative.
