10 things you might not know about me

These are a bunch of things that you might still not know about me. And the reason I want to share them is I get a like these every time I post anything about myself. And two, it's probably pretty important to have a little bit more context on who you're getting advice from. Number one, a lot of people know that I did Harvard undergrad, Penn Masters and then Stanford Masters. Number two, but in between undergrad and my first Masters, I actually applied to a bunch of different business schools and I was rejected everywhere. Second thing is that I grew up very low income, at some point I was homeless and my parents came from Peru around 35 years ago. So I'm also first generation. And that's why my content is focused on first generation low income students. The third thing is that when I applied to college, I actually applied as a political science major and I wanted to become an immigration lawyer. But during my time in college, I actually studied psychology and became a software engineer. But law school is still somewhere in the back of my mind. Fourth thing is that I have a lot of stage fright when it comes to public speaking and when it comes to recording these videos and sometimes that manifests as like a stutter. And other times it just manifests as me having to re-record it multiple times, like the way that's also gotten a lot better, but I used to hate the sound of my own voice. Initially, my videos on this platform were just text on screen with no speak. Number five, a lot of people probably already know, but I have two beagles. This one is named Charlie, and the other one is Dexter. No. Number six is when I went away to college, I had this really unrealistic expectation that when I graduated college, I would have my own kids immediately. That obviously did not happen. Now I want kids in the next like two to three years. But a lot of my paternalistic instinct is why I kind of do college admissions to begin with. Number seven is that I've been in a relationship for about 10 years now. Number eight is that when I was in middle school and elementary school, I was the world's biggest troublemaker. So many detentions, so many suspensions. I also had straight C's and D's all the way up until. Number nine is that when I applied to colleges, my main extracurriculars was working at my parents restaurant. That is a place that I had worked at since fifth grade. Initially, I was a server, but then I moved on to working in the kitchen, which means I'm really good at cooking different Peruvian dishes and desserts. And no. 10. I never considered myself a good writer until I got to my AP English language class. And that class is what I feel like taught me how to become the writer that I am now when I help other students write their essays. So that's probably one of my favorite AP classes.
