Biggest website mistake If you built your own website Or you had your cousin Vinnie do it for you No shade I can guarantee you need to fix this one thing It's relatively straightforward And if you don't fix it You're gonna rank lower and get less traffic So let's walk through this Ok first things first I want you to open Google Search Console If you don't have Google Search Console set up That's why you don't have your cousin Vinnie Build your website On the left hand side we're gonna go to pages We're gonna scroll down to not found Four o four Now when you get there You're gonna see a list of URLs that I'm not showing To protect this customer These are called dead URLs Google hates them And the people who visit your website hate them So we need to set up What's called a redirect to a living page Now this is gonna look different Depending on where your website is built Just search how to set up a redirect on your website builder We are on WordPress using Rank Math So ours looks like this The source URL is the dead URL The destination URL Is where you want people to be redirected to And the redirection type is going to be a 301 Permanent move Now you're gonna wanna do this with all those four o Four URLs we saw in Search Console There's really no wrong way to do this The wrong way to do it is to not do it at all Side note If you need help setting up Google Search Console I can make a video about that if you want
