According to Whitespark and their yearly survey of 47 SEO experts, these are the top five things you need to focus on in order that actually impact your rankings. Number one, not surprising at all, it's your primary category. Take the time, make sure you got the correct category for your business and your services. Number two, might surprise you, it moved up a lot in the rankings. It's your business being listed as open when it's being searched for. That is now the fifth most important factor in showing up in the map pack. So making sure you have accurate hours of operation is more important than ever. Number three is reviews. But not just the amount of reviews you get or getting five-star reviews. It's all about frequency now. 200 reviews from two years ago is not going to beat out 40 reviews that a business got over the past three months. Number four is engagement signals. When people click on your website, click to call, click for directions. This one is kind of a feedback loop where when you start to show up more, people engage with your profile more, which tells Google you're a healthy, awesome business, so it shows you more, and so on and so on. And number five, this one is kind of crazy because it jumped up 75 ranks this year, but it's having keywords in your Google Business Profile services. Everyone's been saying fill out your profile, make sure you don't leave everything blank, but now we have data showing that filling out your service section and using strategic words actually impact your ranking and it's only become more important this year. I hope this was helpful. Follow along. Next week's ranking factor is on-page signals.
