For the past few days a pod of orcas has been moving through Burrard Inlet, and it’s been incredible to watch. They actually traveled all the way down from Anchorage before entering the Salish Sea and making their way into Vancouver’s harbor. Seeing them right here between cargo ships, ferries, and the city skyline is surreal. Orcas do pass through these waters from time to time while hunting or traveling, but it’s not common for them to stay in the inlet for several days. Moments like this are such a lovely reminder that Vancouver sits in the middle of one of the richest marine ecosystems in the world. I’m so grateful to live here.
