I mean hello??? 🤨🤨 All jokes aside, there are a lot of ways living in the city can actually save you money. For starters, you don’t need a car. Most families back east have two. No car payments. No insurance. No repairs. No winter tires. No gas. You basically trade all those bills for a $40 Compass Pass. Hydro is cheaper here. Internet is cheaper here. And even taxes are lower. In New Brunswick, you pay 15% HST on pretty much everything. Go out for dinner? 15%. Buy clothes? 15%. Order takeout? 15%. In BC, restaurant meals are only charged 5% GST, and most other purchases are 12% total tax. So while housing is definitely more expensive, a lot of the day-to-day costs people don’t think about can actually be lower. Vancouver isn’t cheap, but the idea that cheaper housing automatically equals a better quality of life just isn’t true. Sure, you have a house with a garage… But it’s in Saint John. 😜 #vancouver #miramichi #eastcoast #westcoast
