I live like on the 20 plus floor of a apartment building and everybody always asks if I worry about the kids getting out on the balcony and of course I do. I'm a parent, I worry about literally everything. But let me show you how it works so maybe you guys can have some peace of mind. So as you can see, this opens like this. And to lock it, you have to pull this up and like pull it in, pull it up and turn this a million times. And then it, like, totally disables the door. So to unlock it, you would have to pull it up and turn this a bunch of times and then it opens again.

Replying to @The Polished Thrift We never use it except to water the herb garden, and we don’t keep any furniture on the patio. We also never open it in front of the kids, and we’ve had age-appropriate conversations with our older child about how dangerous it is. Neither of them has the dexterity, coordination, or strength to unlock it, and we would never leave it unlocked or them unsupervised.
