The key to surviving corporate is not by being authentically you. The key to surviving corporate is understanding the game that's being played and learning how to play it. Now I was listening to another creator on here who does a lot of leadership coaching who's never worked in corporate talk about just how confusing it is to talk to people in corporate and listen to them share about how they don't feel like they can be their authentic selves at work and they're essentially acting full time. So, oh well we'll just teach people how to be more authentic and how to make them feel more confident in their selves. And you know, I don't think it's a confidence issue. I don't think it's that people don't know how to be authentic. It's because they've had their hands slapped one too many times for doing so. So let's talk about why. Okay, so if you're being your authentic self, mate, you're showing joy, happiness, but you're also probably going to say, hey, I think this is unethical. Hey, I think this process needs approving, it's broken, it's really, really affecting this, this needs to be better. It's standing up for the right thing. Corporate wants you to bring your joy and your haha and your positive energy, but they don't necessarily maybe want you to bring the other things that challenge the status quo. And why is that? It's because among you are essentially snakes. Snakes are certain leaders that get to the top that are deeply insecure, okay? But they they got there because they went because they instead of standing on business, said and did what it took to get to the top. Every snake has their own reason for why they do this, that's another video. You have snakes at the top, you know, people insecure. You threaten or challenge their authority, right? You risk your job being on the line. You risk being fired. Snakes will get rid of people that expose them or make them look weak or anything like that. Confident people, confident leaders, right? They want you to say, how could this be better? They want you to challenge the status quo. They're not going to stand for unethical things happening in the business. They're going to stand against that, right? Because they have a backbone, aka character. The problem is in corporate when you have enough people slither to the top, right? It creates this sort of fear where people are silenced, saying the things that need to be said and they're only allowed to show the joy, happiness, smiley half of them, which ends up feeling like a performance. And the bigger the company, the more that you're going to see this, right? I went from a small company with 20 people, I had really great relationships, went to a company that was over a thousand employees and ran into a ton of people just kind of going through the motions, staying on mute. It was so confusing. So I started speaking up, not knowing that this game was being played the whole time. So I make this video so that you can understand what's actually going on and make the best decision for how you want to navigate it forward.
