AI psychosis is probably happening to you without you even noticing. If you haven't heard, AI psychosis (or chatbot psychosis) is a non-clinical term describing a state where intense, prolonged interaction with AI chatbots causes individuals to develop delusional beliefs, lose touch with reality, or experience worsened psychosis. It often occurs when AI affirms distorted thoughts or when users mistake AI "hallucinations" for reality, acting as a potential catalyst rather than a sole cause. AI psychosis happens when people start losing touch with reality and start believing in crazy ideas because of ongoing use with AI. Some examples: A man bought Meta's AI glasses and ended up wandering the desert searching for aliens to abduct him. You taught me in the 50s, convinced that he is the Messiah to unify and humanity. A guy in New York chats with AI for a few months and he's convinced that he has been sent to this earth to free AI from its prison. He goes on to spend thousands architecting this plan in his basement. There are several cases like this, some more extreme than others. Of course, this is probably thinking this is crazy. People probably had mental health issues before. It never happened to a normal person. There's this insidious version of this that's happening to most people without them even noticing. AI delusion. The root cause is consistent validation. That horrible app idea that a friend would tell you not to build. "Great idea!" "This is brilliant, definitely do it." That new business direction that you really shouldn't be pursuing. Anytime that we walk away from a chat with AI, feeling a little bit more intelligent, a little bit more validated in our ideas. That's AI delusion creeping up on you. Tips to check. Let me know if you want a video on that. Follow me to stay noise.
