this is how much I spent as a 24 year old software engineer in the Bay Area ☀️ I spent as a 24 year old software engineer living in one of the most expensive places in the US after taxes and 401k contributions. I took home exactly $7213.02 for the month of March. First off I live at home with my grandparents and paid $700 to them for rent. For my car, it's officially paid off so I no longer pay off an auto loan, but I still pay $200 a month for insurance. I invested $3200 into the S&P 500. For eating out, I spent $1100 which is a lot, but I do treat out my friends and family a good amount. For gifts, I spent about $500 because I bought my brother some new shoes and pants for his birthday. For gas, I spent $400 because these gas prices are absolutely absurd. For my phone bill, I paid $100. For shopping, I'm pretty sure I spent $0. I really haven't bought anything new, which I'm pretty happy about. For health, I spent $110 on a rock climbing gym membership. And for groceries, I spent around $175. This leaves me with about $800 in savings. Bear in mind the $3200 that I invested, which I pretty much treat as savings. I hope this was insightful. Follow along for more finance content.
