I just got paid as a 21 year old software engineer at Amazon. So let's go through this month's expenses as someone who is not the most financially responsible. My total pay is $10,750, but after taxes and 401k contributions, my take home this month was $6,451. I paid $1500 for my rent and this month I paid $50 for utilities. There's a gym at my apartment, but I have a ClassPass membership that I pay $80 a month for. Next, I usually cook, so I spend about $100 a week or $500 a month on groceries. And was the kicker this month and I traveled. I got to Spain. I got the flight and hotel through my credit card points, but still managed to spend 1k on shopping activities, Ubers and food outside of the week. I spent about $700 on more shopping, eating out or hanging out with friends. Finally, I put 2k into my high yield savings account and invested $500 into the stock market.
