Instagram just announced that they're charging creators for a new set of features, and here's a breakdown and whether it's worth it for you. It's called Instagram Plus and it's a paid subscription that's slowly rolling out. It's Stories Focus for now, but with this new paid subscription that's slowly rolling out, you can create multiple close friends lists, see how many times someone has rewatched your story. You can view stories without it actually saying you did. Extend your story for another 24 hours and spotlight your story so that it shows up first in the feed. This is currently being tested in Mexico, Japan, and the Philippines. But here's my honest take, most of these features only matter if your audience is already watching your stories. Paying to extend or spotlight them won't fix low engagement. It just puts more budget into content that's just not landing yet. Before this rolls out in the U.S., check your story analytics right now. If your average story view rate is under 10% of your followers, your priority isn't distribution, it's content.
