Burnout is one of those words that gets thrown around so casually… but what is it really? It’s not a bad week. It’s not being annoyed at your boss. It’s not even just being “stressed.” Burnout is what happens when your body lives in survival mode for too long. Chronic, sustained stress. High pressure, no support, little control. Over and over again. And your body keeps the score. The type of physical, mental, and emotional exhaustion that doesn’t just go away when you log off. It can impact your heart, your hormones, your brain. It can literally shave years off your life if it goes unaddressed. Recovery doesn’t come from just leaving the job. Leaving is just the beginning. Healing from burnout is slow. It’s layered. It’s unlearning patterns your nervous system had to adopt just to survive. And that process can take years. I hit burnout earlier than most. I left a toxic job in 2023 completely broken. Found a “better” environment… and still didn’t feel okay. My nervous system was so dysregulated, I didn’t even recognize myself. It wasn’t until 2025, when I finally gave myself real space to focus on my health, that I could see how deep it all went… and how much healing was still ahead of me. My story might be on the more extreme end. But I know I’m not the only one. If you’re in it right now, or coming out of it, be patient with yourself. Give yourself space. Give yourself grace. But most importantly… give yourself time. #corporatelife #burnoutrecovery #HealingJourney #mentalhealthmatters #fyp
