Here are 10 symptoms of burnout that sound completely fake to someone who has never experienced it ——— Hi, I’m Sasha 👋 Together with a psychiatrist with over 15 years of clinical experience, I'm building Anticipate App to help you build anti-burnout habits: • slow down instead of pushing through • improve your sleep hygiene • identify and reduce the stressors Search “Anticipate” on the App Store. ——— 1. Feeling like you’re not completely real. Everything looks normal, but somehow feels far away, almost like you’re watching your life rather than living it. 2. Feeling dizzy or like the floor is moving. You’re standing still, but your body feels slightly off-balance, floaty or like you’re walking on a boat. 3. Heart palpitations while doing absolutely nothing. You’re sitting at your desk and suddenly become painfully aware of your heartbeat, skipped beats or pounding chest. 4. Never getting a satisfying breath. You’re breathing, but it doesn’t feel like enough. So you keep sighing, yawning or trying to take one huge breath. 5. Weird pressure in your head. Not necessarily a normal headache. More like heaviness, tightness or pressure around your temples, forehead or skull. 6. Your stomach suddenly hates everything. Nausea, reflux, bloating, diarrhoea, constipation or completely losing your appetite can all show up when stress stays high. 7. Your body shakes or twitches for no obvious reason. Trembling hands, eyelid twitches, muscle spasms or that strange internal vibrating feeling people struggle to explain. 8. Your brain stops cooperating. Forgetting simple words. Losing your sentence halfway through. Walking into a room and having absolutely no idea why. 9. You’re exhausted, but your body won’t relax. You desperately need rest, yet sitting still makes you restless. You’re tired all day and somehow wired at night. 10. Your ears start doing weird things. Ringing, buzzing or hearing your heartbeat in your ear can feel incredibly alarming — especially when you don’t connect it with how stressed your body has been. The strange thing about chronic stress is that you can still look completely functional from the outside. You’re working. Answering messages. Getting things done. But internally, your body can be screaming for you to slow down. “OKAY, BUT I CAN’T JUST REMOVE ALL THE STRESS FROM MY LIFE.” You probably can’t. But you can start noticing what makes your symptoms worse, reduce the stressors you can control, and make recovery something you actively protect instead of waiting until you crash. That’s exactly why I’m building Anticipate. To help you connect the dots between your days and your stress, and learn to slow down before pushing through makes everything worse.
