Women don't realize how much economic value they generate socially. I knew that social media sites were data centers when I accidentally made my abusive ex-boyfriend a millionaire. I'm going to make sure that I shoot this in one take so that you know that I mean business, but at the age of 21, I didn't understand that the social media platform I had been building since I was 15 years old had been aggregating interest, aggregating age, aggregating location, but he did. He came to me, my senior year, when we met, suggesting that I forgo my professional plans and instead put a product that him and his line brothers intended to market to the world at the forefront of every conversation, every post, and every dialogue I hosted or endorsed on my own platform. I was young and I was in love and I thought that if I got in business with my partner, that that would show the level of allegiance and the level of loyalty that I had to him. Once I realized that we were in business partnership with one another, I doubled down not only on personal commitments but professional commitments and helped him ramp organization up into the 30,000s. By the time that he turned 22 years old, he was making $60,000 a week. By the time that he turned 23, he was making $100,000 a week. By the time that he turned 24, he was making $250,000 a week. Why? He had a product and in spite of lacking the platform, citing the fact that when I met him, he only had 600 followers on Instagram. He had a naive girl who didn't know any better and didn't think higher of herself to believe that the marketplace she has worked to build shouldn't only be accessed by her and her alone. I don't know who this is for, young or old, but you should now know that your Instagram, your Twitter, your threads, your TikTok is powerful. By the time that I caught on to what was happening, it was too late. But it doesn't have to be too late for you. Build your platform, aggregate this data, and then position something in front of them that is helpful. Happy Friday.
