I need to invest $120,000 every single year by 40. How early is early enough? I hit my annual investment goal. Where my money goes after that. I decided that 40 was enough. Retiring at 40 is so early. I don't need to push for 39, 38, 37 to do that. So many people in this toxic loop of investing as much as they and optimizing every single dollar because they as early as possible. any money. Were enjoying retiring a little bit later wouldn't feel that bad. Deciding how early was early enough for me really changed things for me. I definitely dabbled into optimizing no matter what. But now by defining that 40 is enough. I'm able aggressively work my investment to make sure I can retire by 40. And then for the rest of the year, I have permission to do whatever I want. I can spend money. I can put extra money towards my mortgage. I could pay off student loans if I want, but I don't want to do that. I'm planning vacations. I'm upgrading things around the house. I really don't think as early as possible is the right retirement goal. It leads to a lot of problems. I want to hear from you. How early is for you to retire.
