This is how much money I spent in a typical month as a 27-year-old. Shout out to the tourists, working in finance, living in the Midwest. I broke out my expenses between debt, fix and variable and that's just the way that works best for me and the way that I have it set up in my template. So for my debt, my mortgage just recently increased. Um and I have an HSA, a car loan, student loans, um and a credit card, but that totals to about $2700. For all of that together. So for my expenses, I have like subscriptions and anything that's reoccurring basically, but not debt and doesn't have an interest rate assigned to it. So, hot yoga, Spotify, my electric bill, my Wi-Fi and small little subscriptions like the Wall Street Journal, Triple A, my Google photos, stuff like that. So, that all adds up to $434. So, everything else after that falls into my variable expenses category, which is where the fun begins. I have about $800 that I pay myself for my variable expenses each month because keep in mind this is after I saved and invested my money. I give myself about $200 a month to spend in fun money. And then the rest of that I don't really like to assign it to a category. I just kind of spend however my heart desires because I'm not very good at sticking to a budget. I'm a girl that just likes to feel free and not restrained, which is why I really like the expense tracking method and also keeping my money in separate accounts because it's impossible to overspend if the money isn't in the account. So that's why bills are in this account, my checking account is for me to have fun with and then I have my savings and everything else. But that's pretty much how I structure my finances and what a typical month looks like for me and I love watching these types of videos, so I thought I would share.
