Applicant Tracking Systems (ATS)
Their other posts in the index, biggest breakout first.
yesterday I posted how Stanford University uncovered that you as a relate to this hiring market and that algorithmic monoculture is causing candidates to be systematically rejected across industries based and applicant-tracking systems that are being used at scale. The recruiters and my comment section are not happy. So let's break I think is shaking the nest transparent for everyone, candidates included. Hi, my name is Beverly Dines. I'm a chief operating officer. I've been scaling operations for over a ton of different I have built recruitment teams from I have managed ATS implementation, and I have seen end scoring measures firsthand. So let's get into it. The first response I keep saying is that "This is a conspiracy" conspiracy that we are not auto-rejecting candidates. I have to be really honest. As somebody also unemployed and had to have navigated so I've seen both sides to this response is gaslighting at its finest. I have thousands upon thousands of comments from job seekers exact same experience. A 2:00 AM rejection email after having just submitted the application. Getting a rejection email seconds after submitting it. So you really mean to tell me that your recruiters are lying sitting down, waiting by the computer, doing is clicking the rejection prompt waiting for somebody any given time of the day. No applicant tracking systems have auto rejection categorizations built in. These are just some examples. But I took it a step further because tired of seeing this comment in my comment sections. I went into my own LinkedIn business account, created a fake job posting. Of course, because that here. The screenshot that literally proves that. If I wanted that would auto reject candidates. It would immediately auto-reject the candidate if they didn't meet the criteria I'm looking for before I had ever had a chance to look at their resume. This is not a conspiracy. It's quite literally how the product works and the candidates that are experiencing this at scale are not imagining it. "ATS aren't Auto-Rejecting" The second response I receive is ATS rejecting candidates, they're just organizing them. This is arguing semantics. The moment that for accountability, overwhelmed recruiters and overwhelmed HR leader, going to go back and manually review all of the applicants that the ATS has said are not a fit. So it does not matter if the machine is sending the rejection email or if the recruiter is? The candidate has been auto categorized and thus eliminated from the running as a result of the auto categorization. That is an auto rejection. The mechanism does not change the outcome to the other side of we need to reinvest in putting in human resources. Organizations need to hire more recruiters, hire more HR leaders. The community what they're experiencing. And if you're watching this, use this as an opportunity in and listen to the discourse that's in the comment section. Comment below if this resonated with you and follow for more because this conversation is not over.
