Maybe the number one question that I got asked is how do I make my videos look like this? I'm going to tell you. First things first, let's take a look at my settings. In the camera tab, go to record video 4K60 highest quality, smooth, creamy, buttery, amazing. Go ahead and turn off HDR video. Never put that on. It is disgusting and makes your video put it horrible. Use all these tools for composition. It's going to make sure the picture that your framing looks great. Now, before you shoot anything, wipe off that lens. Literally every single time you take that camera out of your pocket, wipe it. Yeah, we have natural oils on our hands, that gets all over the camera. I can tell instantly when somebody has shot something and didn't went through camera. aka my wife. She is getting a little better. But for real, this is the easiest way to make sure your footage looks crisp, clean and the way that you want it to. Next is lighting. I do have a few different lighting pieces. Wonder how many times I've used these lights while recording videos for you, you see, zero. Now one time have I bust these out to set up a scene to use these lights because every single time, I think window light just looks so much better. You got to be careful with it. If the sun is shining directly through the window, don't use it because you're going to be blinded by the light, you're not going to be able to open your eyes. Your face is going to look completely orange. So definitely use window lighting at the right time and day. You should windows on the side of your house to use it when the sun is not shining directly through it, but it's casting a nice warm glow through the window. And let me be very clear with you. Lighting is everything. You can have the best highest quality camera and if you you have bad lighting, your video is going to be a crap. So really when you're trying to figure out how to shoot high quality video, practicing with different kinds of lighting should be the number one step that you take. Now what do you set your camera to? This may be a hot take. I will always shoot 1x. Always. I know there's some people out there that swear by the 0.5. Some people in there that really like the zoom. It's just not for me. I think when I was a photographer, I really got used to shooting with Prime. If I wanted to capture something in detail, I'm going to move my body to it. I think personal preference that the iPhone is set native to work best at its 1X camera. And so almost exclusively any single video you've seen of me on this page has been shot with the 1X camera. I think it comes out consistently. I think the lighting hits the lens just the right place and the footage that we get is high quality, is crisp, it's clear and it moves flawlessly. I stay to the end. This is the money maker. This is what's going to differentiate the quality of your video to maybe some of the lower quality stuff that you've seen when you're shooting on your iPhone, always always always use the back camera. Always, if you're tempted to use the front facing camera, you've already lost. And I know some of you have a really hard time talking to the back of your camera without seeing yourself. I know framing's kind of hard sometimes. But I'm telling you, get a selfie cam, put your phone in front of a mirror, whatever it's going to take for you to shoot with your back camera, you're going to be so happy with the quality. So if you're going to remember how to shoot high quality imagery, 4K60, wipe your lens, window light, 1X and back camera, back camera, back camera. Go make some beautiful stuff.
