The older I get, the less I want to just visit places and the more I want to fully experience them. And that requires being pretty good with money. For example, I separate out my travel money before I even get on the plane. I like to use Starling Spaces to split out my holiday spending, which honestly just makes travelling feel way more intentional because I know exactly what I've set aside for a trip. Starling doesn't charge you any fees when you use your card abroad. I really like to use movement as a way to explore new cities rather than taking Ubers or even public transport everywhere. I usually go for a walk or I go for a run because I genuinely do believe that you discover places more intentionally when you move through with them slowly. And lastly, I always pay in the local currency when I'm abroad because you are likely to get a better exchange rate that way. Because ultimately for me, being good with money is less about restriction and actually creating systems that allow you to enjoy and live your life more fully. I have found travelling to be a very good way to practice that.
