This is the truth about web design in 2026. The truth about web design in 2026, especially nowadays is that it's easier than ever to build a website, but it's harder than ever to build a website that actually does something and stand out as a web designer. AI has completely changed the game. People are building websites in minutes nowadays. They're using AI tools, templates, builders, prompts, and they're selling businesses nice looking websites that look impressive, but don't actually offer the business anything. And to be fair, some of them do look really good. But the truth is a nice looking website that built in 5 minutes, doesn't necessarily guarantee inquiries and more clients for the business. It doesn't automatically build trust, it doesn't automatically rank on Google. And it definitely doesn't automatically be unique to that business and show exactly why that particular business stands out compared to the competitors. And I've seen that shift in my own agency. Now when I'm reaching out to businesses and I told them to turn website, they think, oh, is there's just another AI website because all these businesses are getting approached by all these people trying to build them cheap websites, instant websites, AI websites and these quick AI built that all look the same. They've all got that same hero section, they've got that same little eyebrow heading, same headlines, same gradient background and the same type of flow. And just to be clear, this isn't me hating on AI because I actually use AI. But there's a difference between using AI to improve the process and relying on AI to replace the thinking. For me, AI is actually made pass my business a lot better. I use AI to help with ideas, content, automation, follow-ups, sequences, client workflow, research, and sometimes even early design direction. So I'm not anti AI at all. AI has made the back end of my business faster and it saved me so much time. But the website still needs that human strategy behind it because a client doesn't just need a homepage. They need to be unique. They need structure, they need positioning. They need trust, they need clear messaging. That's why I still build most of my client websites on WordPress. Not because it's trending, not because it's the easiest thing to sell, but because it gives my client ownership, flexibility, SEO foundations, integration, scalability and long-term control. WordPress is still one of the biggest platforms in the world. for a reason. You can build something completely custom and unique to every client. Connect booking systems, forms, CRM, analytics, SEO tools, blogs, e-commerce, and pretty much whatever the business needs as it grows. We've a lot of these instant AI websites, the business gets something that looks nice today, but the client doesn't always understand what they own, how it scales, how it ranks or how it fits into the bigger business. Another truth about our design in 2026 that the market is really, really saturated. There are a lot of web designers, there are a lot of agencies. There are a lot of people saying the same things, using the same tools. So if you're trying to build a sustainable agency right now, you can't just say you build a website. That is simply not enough anymore. To show how you think, you need to show your process, you need to create content. You need to build trust and you need to show why your websites are different. For me, luckily, content has been one of the things that separate me from other web designers. A lot of my clients already feel like they know me before they even book a call. And this is the part people don't always see. Web design is not just about designing website. It's finding clients, it's managing projects, it's understanding every individual client's needs. It's writing copy page, it's handling revisions, it's learning SEO, it's writing proposals, it's creating content and so much more. The actual design is only one part of the business. So don't be fooled by the videos that just say you just build website or build a homepage and the money follows. There's a lot more to it. And personally, I'll be honest, people see me posting about web designing, running an agency, managing clients, building websites and they probably think I've got everything figured out. I don't. I'm still learning. I'm still adjusting, I'm still figuring out how to stand out. I'm still improving my systems and I'm still learning how to use AI properly without letting it make my work. The only difference is I've been doing this long enough to see where the market is going and the market is not a world people who just make pretty websites anymore. It's a world people who actually understand how businesses work and help them solve a specific problem. So the truth about web design is this. AI has made websites easier to create but it's also made strategy positioning trust more valuable than ever because when everyone can create something that looks good the real value is doing what should be built how it should be built and what brings that business more money. So if you're a business owner don't just ask someone build your website. Ask is this website actually going to my business grow? And how? And if you're a web designer, don't just learn how to build websites. Learn how to build websites that solve real business problems. This is the truth about web design in 2026 and how it's kind of affected me and my agency.
