Revocable Trust / EIN
Their other posts in the index, biggest breakout first.
Only broke people open bank accounts in their own name. The rich almost never do. Here's why. I didn't understand this until my father told me these three things. He stopped me the day I received my first paycheck. I had done everything correctly. Uh, got paid, went straight to the bank, opened a savings account in my name, and deposited everything. My father looked at me and said, you just made yourself a target. I didn't understand what he meant. He explained that the moment money sits in your name, it becomes exposed. Creditors can see it, lawyers can locate it, and anyone with a judgement against you can freeze it and seize it completely legally. So here's what he taught me to do instead. What wealthy families have quietly been doing for generations. Step 1. Visit IRS. Dot gov and apply for an EIN, a tax identification number for a trust, not a person. Step 2. Select a revocable trust as your entity type. List yourself as both grantor and trustee, and you maintain complete control of everything. Step three. Take that EIN. To any bank and open an account under the trust name, not your personal name. The money remains yours: You spend it, move it, invest it however you choose. But on paper, it isn't connected to you personally. If someone sues you, they cannot touch what they cannot see. This is a system wealthy families have always used. Own Nothing on paper control everything in reality. If you're ready to start thinking the way old money thinks. Comment wealth below.
