Delta Air Lines

This is why you should avoid booking with Delta as much as humanly possible. So I'm looking at going from Atlanta to Puerto Vallarta on June 21st and I wanna fly Delta First Class. I see it's gonna run me around 88,000 Sky Miles plus $63 in tax or $1,000 in cash. Remember this flight number DL 1941. I was able to snag that exact same seat on the exact same plane for less than half the amount of miles and only $28 more in tax because I remembered to check Delta's partners before booking a ticket with Delta. And this one was found by using Air France. Check the flight number DL 1941. This is on a Delta plane. Heck, you could even book this ticket through Virgin for less points at 66,000 miles. And you might be thinking, wait, that says Business Class. But on this plane there is no Business Class. There's just First and then Comfort. So I was able to select seat 1A. And for reference, Delta is charging 53,000 miles just for economy on this flight. I think I'd rather take First Class for 42. This is why I always recommend having flexible credit card points as opposed to points that are tied to a specific airline's loyalty program. Because if you have Delta Sky Miles, you're stuck paying whatever Delta is charging. If you have flexible credit card points, like Chase points, you can afford to shop around other airlines within the SkyTeam alliance and often book Delta flights far cheaper.
