Let's go over how to achieve the OG Taylor Swift curls without any heat. Her hair is completely dry so we're going to lightly mist it with water and then prep the hair with a mousse for extra hold and frizz control. Detangle the hair for smooth curls. We're going to be using the no headband OctoCurl. I absolutely love this one because it sits along the part which allows the curls to start right at the top. When wrapping the hair, make sure to direct the hair straight back instead of letting it sag for maximum volume. And for this very first strip, on each side, I add the hair straight in before twisting it. You'll see on the rest of them that I like to give it a little twist. Once you reach the bottom, just fold the strip up and wrap it around the base and then secure with the elastic. Start with a small section of hair and wrap it away from the face around the strip and then add in a new section of hair, twist that section forward, then back around the strip. Again, add in a new section of hair, twist it forward, then back around the strip. To keep the hair from unraveling, I also like to twist the strip forward and then back together, then twist them back together. It's kind of like a rope twist. Spin to the other side and repeat the same steps. Then grab your favorite bonnet to protect your hair while you sleep and let the curls set overnight. We're big fans of the bonnet, it always keeps the curls looking just like new. And if you're not a fan of the bonnet, then a silk pillowcase is another great option. I like to work my way backwards to release the curls to minimize frizz and tangles. This single wrap add-in method is definitely one of our favorites to achieve these small curls for these long, thick hair. You can leave the curls just like this, but I personally love the fullness by going through and gently separating each of the curls. I'm using a little bit of dry texture spray to keep the curls from clumping together. I can't even begin to tell you how much time this saves us in the morning by spending a little extra time the night before, we can just unwrap her hair and have gorgeous curls in the morning. Not to mention no heat damage.
