2026 AP Biology Exam Score Distribution

Score distributions for the 2026 AP Biology exam are finally here. This is by far the number one most popular exam that I see pre-med related students taking, as well as students who are going for pretty much any science-based major. And yet, a lot of those students are shocked when they get their score and they did not get a 5 nor a 4. And in many cases, not even a 3. Here's what you have to remember. If you get a 3, it is still okay. I would still report that to all top colleges, including top 10 colleges. If you get a 1 or a 2, do not report that. But again, it is not going to be the end of the world. I am going to make one big recommendation specifically for students who get a 1 or a 2 on this exam and are going for a science-based major. I recommend that you look at your extracurriculars and that you have at least one extracurricular where you are leaning into helping other people understand biology-related material. This could involve joining a biology club, mentoring younger students, or it could involve tutoring other friends that you have that are going to be taking honors biology or even AP Biology next year. Or it could involve reaching out to a biology teacher and asking if they might need some TA help next year. This is going to show admissions officers that even though you do not test extremely well in this subject, you are passionate about the material and always looking to discuss and share that passion with other people.
