Can you really live on a state pension in 2026? That's from the numbers. Now imagine that's your only source of income. So some pensioners do have private pensions. Some are small, some are big, some pensioners are better off than others. Some people are only on that state pension though, which is the 1,045 a month. Yeah. Now imagine your council tax, hundred or pound. Your energy, hundred and fifty pounds. Your water could be anything from 50 pounds, 70 pounds. You're broadband. Now you're looking around 35 quid on average. Your phone around 30 pounds on average. Yes, we know there's cheaper deals out there. Home insurance could be anything depending on where you live. Now, some people may be paying rent, some people may have had their mortgage already cleared for a number of years. So every situation is different. On average, the rent in most areas now is around 950 to 1,500 per month. So before you've had a coffee with a friend, before you've even visited the grandchildren, before you put the heating on a little bit longer, a big chunk of that income has just gone. And that's before anything unexpected happens. Now, this isn't about saying every pensioner is struggling, cause I know there's pensioners that aren't. But everyone's situation is different. But it just make you stop and think after a lifetime of working, should retirement really feel like this? People aren't failing. The numbers changed.
