Living is paying the bills and still having breathing room at the end of the month. Breathing room. Say yes to the school trip, yes to the going out for the night, yes to the holiday. Breathing room just to fix something without having to panic or worry if something does break in the household, such as your washing machine or your boiler or big appliance. But for a lot of the breathing room has just gradually disappeared. And it's not because people have stopped working hard. We're working harder than ever.
