I'm 19 years old, married, no degree, no 9-5, and I'm exactly where I want to be. Hey girly, I love that you're happy, but as someone who has no degree, no job, and can't even go to a bar by themselves, you rely on your husband for a lot of things. And I hate to say the ugly part out loud, but someone who has the power to feed you has the power to starve you. Come spend a day in the life with me as a stay-at-home wife. Your husband provides you food, shelter, and a life you love, but if he changes his mind, things could go south very quickly. To protect yourself financially, here are the three things I would talk to him about. One, a separate bank account. I need you to have your own money. Maybe it's him depositing a preset amount of his income into that account for you every single month, or maybe it's the dollars you make from content creation, but I need you to have walk away money that he can't touch. Two, a spousal IRA. Married couples can contribute to an individual retirement account for the non-working spouse as you guys file a tax return together. I know you're 19, so retirement feels a lifetime away, but especially knowing that there's an age gap between you and your husband, you wanna make sure you have a retirement plan that doesn't rely on him taking care of you. Three, a prenup or postnup agreement. Nobody wears a seatbelt assuming a crash, but if you get into a wreck, you'll be grateful you have it. Hire your own lawyer, don't split a lawyer, and get fair terms for your relationship because the person you marry is not the person you divorce. I'm wishing you a long, wonderful marriage, but if things don't work out, I don't wanna see you destitute. And if you're watching this and you want to be better with money, I'm Vivian, your favorite Wall Street girl, and I teach you all the finance you never got to share this with a friend and follow to get smarter and richer.
