We are officially halfway through the year so it’s time to rank my top 10 HORROR + THRILLER movies of 2026, so far! This list really surprised me! 🏆 I included where to watch them if you want to check them out too! In tenth place is Honey Bunch. I did not expect to like this one as much as I did. It has a little bit of experimental, trapped, and psychological all of my favorite sub genres. I went in blind with this one and I feel like that's what you need to do. I love when a movie can surprise me and this did just that. And it is very underrated. So if you have not seen this one, definitely check it out. In ninth place is Diabolic. I am not a huge religious horror fan, but this one does lean into the F-L-D-S religion, which I grew up in, for the majority of my life. And so that alone had me intrigued. I like when religious horror movies don't follow the cliché storylines that we've seen a lot of. And this one did its own thing and it was really refreshing. Also very creepy visuals and setting. In eighth place, Hokum. Even though this is a witch movie, I like that it didn't lean heavily into the supernatural side. It was very psychological and makes you think while also being very creepy. I'm so used to Adam Scott and horror comedies, so seeing him in a more darker role. It was so fun. In seventh place, Good Luck, Have Fun, Don't Die. This one was so fun, so wacky, and very relevant to how the world is going, which is very scary. I love the comedy and the sci-fi tech elements. This one was just a fun experience. In sixth place, Slanted. I really like Mekhi Phifer, I will watch anything that she's in. She is just so talented. I love these experimental gone wrong type movies and a lot of symbolism that really makes you think. Also some really gruesome body horror. In fifth place, Carolina Caroline. Kyle Gallner and Samara Weaving are two of my favorite actors and actresses. And so I was really excited to see them in this. They are so damn talented and fun to watch. This movie gets very deep and way more psychological than I expected, but I liked this one so much I watched it twice in a day. In fourth place, Over Your Dead Body. Another Samara Weaving hit. This one was so fun. Another one that I watched twice in one day. The comedy in this one is so naturally funny and it is very quotable. It's one of those movies I can see myself rewatching over and over again. In third place, Heel. I cannot stop talking about this one and I will probably never stop recommending it. This one was so freaking good. It has the trapped hostage elements, but also very psychological and a lot of heart to it. It's one of those movies that's going to have you torn between what's right and what's wrong, but this one is severely underrated. In second place, Send Help. This one was number one spot for so long until my number one beat it out. But this one was such a fun time. I love seeing Rachel McAdams and Dylan O'Brien together in a movie. They were such a perfect combo. Perfect mix of comedy and thrills. And I love movies where people are trapped, especially in this type of setting on an island where they can't easily leave. And in first place, Obsession. This movie was so amazing. I love movies that are packed with symbolism and metaphors and that you can go back and rewatch and find things that you didn't notice the first time. I like that it was psychological but also scary in a realistic way. Corey Barker is a freaking genius and I will watch anything that he makes, but I cannot wait to give this one a rewatch.
