Modbus TCP/IP and Modbus RTU are not competing technologies. They solve different communication needs. 🔹 Modbus TCP/IP uses Ethernet, making it the preferred choice for high-speed communication, large networks, and seamless integration with modern control systems. 🔹 Modbus RTU uses serial communication, typically RS-485, making it ideal for long cable runs, simple field networks, and cost-effective industrial installations. Both use the same Modbus protocol, meaning the function codes, registers, and data model remain the same. The main difference is how the data is transported. Choosing the right one depends on your application, network size, distance, existing infrastructure, and performance requirements. #Instrumentation #Automation #IndustrialAutomation #Modbus #PLC #SCADA #ElectricalEngineering
