We are about to have our seventh Prime Minister in 10 years and for some reason barely anyone listened to his speech last week. So to save a good 40 minutes of your time and some bad jokes about his t-shirt. Here is everything you need to know. His main point was all about Manchesterism. His quote is place first not party first and problem solving not point scoring, which is basically him trying to reject a bunch of previous leadership, which brings us to some of the more controversial things he talks about like number 10 North. This is to extend Downing Street which has been based in London since the 17th to Manchester. This is to extend devolution across the whole country so that White Hall has less centralized power. He vagaly spoke about devolution in Scotland, Wales, Northern Ireland, but not much detail on that. Lastly, there was emphasis on education, housing and industry. Education, he wants to move away from the traditional university path and also focus more on mental health. For housing, he's proposing the biggest council housing project since the post war period. Finally, for industry, he wants a 10-year plan to basically support British suppliers rather than important cheaper goods. Now, apart from him hating on Kemmy, that's probably the most useful information from his speech. I'll give my proper opinion when Vernon releases his full manifesto, but let me know what you think.
