Steven Bartlett is a very love-hate figure around the world because no one remembers how he got famous or how he made his money. But his whole brand seems to be built around being famous and having money. So for fun, I decided to go through his whole history to find out how he got famous and how he got rich. By the way, this information is out there. I'm just saving you time by putting it in a video. First, born in Botswana. We all know that. Then he moved to Plymouth when he was two. He did technically go to uni, he says that he went for a day and then dropped out. Dropping out of uni in the early 2010s is actually really strategic when that thing to do. Fashionable thing to do. Still, unusual, the whole genius boy dropout persona would have been really helpful when networking. Couch surfed for a little bit. And then from the age of 19 to 21, he found a job at Bibo. Most people don't know what Bibo was, but think of it as a worst version of Facebook. But Steven's job was to help rebuild it. And from doing this, he met a bunch of people in this kind of marketing space, which led him to found his first company called Wall Park. Think of it as a messaging platform for students, which didn't really take it on. But it helped him later on when he then founded Social Chain, which was a very early marketing social media marketing agency. We see loads of these now, but back in 2014, not that common. This obviously did really well. So in 2017, when the Diary of a CEO podcast started. This started as a solo you can scroll down on Spotify to find some of the really early episodes. This, warrior, like, posting like every day. Over the next two years, Social Chain went public and he featured on Forbes 30 under 30. 2021 comes around, he's the youngest person ever to feature as an investor on Dragon's Den. This fame gave him a leverage to start things like Flight Group, which is basically a company which runs his podcast, his studios, his investment funds. Today, he's an investor in over 70 companies. He has the second biggest podcast in the world. Not any what is, but in the millions. If you want to be as successful as he is, then his advice is to hire people better than you and pay attention to detail. Let me know if you love or hate him.
