Lower back hurts every time you stand up. This one exercise changes that. I'm Ryan. I help seniors 55 and up get stronger and move better from home. No gym, minimal equipment. So follow me for more tips like this. Here's what's happening. When your glutes and your core are weak, your lower back has to do all the work when you stand. That's why it hurts. So strengthen your glutes and your core and your back gets a break. This exercise is called a glute bridge, and you can do it right on your bed or couch. No getting down on the floor. First, lay on your back, knees bent, feet flat. Try to get your heels as close as you can to your fingertips. Now press through your heels and lift your hips up until your body makes a straight line from your knees to your shoulders. Keep your stomach tight the whole time. Squeeze your glutes at the top and hold for two seconds, then lower back down. That's one rep. Do 10 reps once or twice a day. You can do this while you're watching TV, right before bed, or first thing in the morning, whenever you want.
