Can't walk without your feet dragging? This ONE exercise is the fix. Hi, I'm Ryan. I've been training seniors for over a decade. If you want more advice like this, make sure you follow me. And comment “DRAG” if your feet have been doing this. If your feet drag when you walk, it's probably because the tibialis anterior, that lifts your toes, has gotten weak. When it's weak, your toes drop, your feet drag, and you shuffle. But when you strengthen it, your feet lift again, and you step cleanly. Here's the one exercise that fixes it, the tib pull. Now, I'm giving you two ways to do it, so pick the one that works for you. First, stand with your back against a wall, feet about 12 inches out. Keep your heels on the ground and lift your toes up toward your shins as high as you can. Hold for two or three seconds, then lower down. That's one rep. Do 10 to 15 reps for two to three sets. Option two is the seated tib pull with resistance tubes. Sit in a chair, or even better on the floor, with your resistance tube anchored in front of you. Attach it to your feet with Velcro straps. Keeping your heels on the ground, pull your toes up towards your shins. Here's the floor version. It gives you better range of motion and makes it easier to keep the knees straight. But I know not everyone can get up and down from the floor. With either, either version, hold at the top position for two or three seconds, then lower your feet back toward the door. Do 10 to 15 repetitions for two to three sets. You don't need a gym, and you don't need a bunch of fancy equipment. You just need to start. So that's how you stop your feet from dragging. Strengthen that tibialis anterior with these tib pull exercises. Now comment “DRAG” if you're gonna try this one today and share this with someone whose feet have been dragging. This might be exactly what they need to see today.
