I asked hundreds of independent consultants what they charge and here's what they had to say. Earlier career, non-technical, looking at about $150 an hour. Mid-level execution strategy, doing some technical work, we're in that 250 to 225 range. Fractional leaders, part-time executive leadership level, we're talking 300 to 350. Most aren't charging by the hour. This is just reverse engineering napkin math. Most people are working on retainer, which is what I do and highly recommend.
