I'm home on Mersea Island! Bit of a change of scenery this morning, hey! I'm on Mersea Island in the UK. This is the island that I grew up on from 11 to about 18, I'm off to university. And I'm home for the weekend, staying with my parents. And just look at it. Isn't it glorious? Absolutely beautiful behind me. I just love the sound of the masts of the boats clanging in the wind. It's so nostalgic for me. I'm 11 again. Now, I never dabchicks sailing club, I used to go discos along with my friend Saskia, who won a silver medal in the London 2012 Olympics. Just behind me is West Mersea Yacht Club. I started working was about 13 years old, and I would I started doing like the fry chef, and making sandwiches. Hit 18, I'd work behind the bar. That was so much fun. And years I worked there, I'd say probably eight years all in. Loved it. If you're an oyster fan to Borough Market in London and fancy oysters, island. Tom, son of Richard Haward, um, we went and he's eighth generation oyster fisherman. Of information about the oysters here. And behind me, old oyster beds here. Um, but they're all from out there where I grew up. And they're much eat them on. So come here, have them on the beach. Bottle of Pimms or a bottle of champagne. On our lovely beach and have them. Yeah. The island boasts an eclectic collection of houseboats. And people actually what a way to live. Great, huh? There's very fancy houses behind me, right on the seafront overlooking those boats. One day. Right, let's go to the beach. It's just down here. Being on this beach brings back so many memories. We used to have picnics down here, beach parties. When it snowed, play. And the sea. Ah, the sea. I'm so happy just listening to the waves sit with me. The crunch of the sand under my feet. The sound of the waves in my ears. The wind whipping my hair. I'm never more happy than I am Mersea Beach. Just coming off the beach now. Called Monkey Beach. And behind me, monkey steps, the monkey beach. No idea why. Why this is beach and these please let me know, because I'd love to. Stunning house behind me? Well, legend has it that there's goes from there to the mainland under the mud flats. That tunnel, the smugglers would take the alcohol from this beautiful house to the mainland. Is it true? Who knows. We've got art gift shops, cafes, pubs, a beautiful village church. Got married. I had my first kiss right here. Shh. And no, I won't name names. The island take such pride in look at this. What it is, but it's beautiful. I'm gonna finish this vid just some of the scenery. Nothing needs to be said. Just take it all in.
