I think calling the World Cup bread and circuses

I think calling the World Cup bread and circuses media might be the evolved form of the person who says go sports ball, because it's kind of a funny thing to say when you don't think about it too much. But I sat there and I really thought about it a little bit, because I'll be honest, I used to be one of those go sportsball people, and then I got a little older and I realised that was super cringe and I was literally just trying to get attention. But then I also had a brief period where I thought it was funny to call various things that I didn't want to watch just bread and circuses media. But then, after larping the world cup, it made me realise something. If people are paying attention to the world cup, it doesn't mean they're not paying attention to other world events. These things are largely not correlated. Like if someone wants to not pay attention to world events, if someone wants to not pay attention to everything that's around them, not, like, acknowledge any of that, them acknowledging something else doesn't mean that they're doing one, because they are not doing the other. They're just doing both. In fact, there's been plenty of woke discussions surrounding the World Cup this year. It really. This doesn't have to be this sort of a dichotomy. I think it just so happens that a lot of go sportsball people have also kind of overlapped with the people who call World Cup, you know, bright. And circuses media. Or, like, the NBA Finals. Or other various sporting events. Because it's kind of fun to LARP the World Cup. And I still pay attention to what's going around me. I still believe in the whole class consciousness thing, you know
