Verity just doesn't do it for me.

Verity just doesn't do it for me. Okay, I would thought it was slop because I watched all the content farms, and then I sat there. I found the YouTube, the one hour compilation of all three individual episodes and I watched it in one good old sitting. But something I noticed was that it, it's not really that good. I like Verity in concept. I think it's a really, really good strike while the iron's hot moment. Because with the generation of children that are probably using ChatGPT way earlier than they should, making an A.I. based horror is legitimately perfect because it's targeted at children. You know, I like the theming. I think the reuse of what I'm pretty sure is an SCP for varieties like Monster Form or whatever is a little corny, but at the end of the day, it works perfectly fine. I'm fine with all that, but where Verity loses me is that the verse doesn't make any sense. Now this is gonna sound really dumb, but I just can't accept that the players are supposed to be proxies of the actual people, right? But they also use Discord. But theoretically they also have an outside life. And this might sound stupid, but walk with me here. The main character of the video theoretically has friends, right? And the creator can log off from Minecraft and his friends can log on, meaning that they exist outside of Minecraft. They are real people. Yes. Okay, we're following. And then later, when the main character brings on Twixle, which is the first side character we see, Verity ends up, you know, owning Twixle. And then this was supposed to be the super sad moment, but for me it didn't hit at all. You just owned Bro's Minecraft character. I don't understand if maybe I'm supposed to be understanding this as a metaphor for Verity going to Bro's real house and genuinely ending Bro. I don't know if I maybe missed a major point, but it just feels like you want to have these people in Minecraft be proxies of the real people, right? But you also want them to use Discord. So are we living in a fantasy land where people, when they log off from one Minecraft world, it's them switching to a different one? And then Discord they can just use as a separate app to communicate it. It doesn't work for me. It feels sloppily put together. It doesn't feel well thought out. And then I do have a few issues just personally with the final scene. It feels like it was put in there to make you sympathize, to make it feel deep. It honestly kinda feels like it was meant to be something that's supposed to make you feel for it. The like Verity, right? But what really is Courtney? And this comes back to the original thing when Bro owns himself at the end, I'm supposed to take that the owning his own Minecraft character is equivalent to the real person just going away? You know, I'm using a lot of hedging language to avoid the hour or whatever, but, you know, you're supposed to. I'm supposed to accept that. It just doesn't land for me. It was a little corny in my eyes. Also, this is a really, really kind of annoying thing, and this kind of makes me question the product's quality. But in the one hour long video, the previews are still there, and the, you know, put on headphones for the best experience are still there for every episode. So in the middle of watching, it just reminds you. That feels just really, you know, poorly put together. It really kind of hurt the quality for me. It took me out of my immersion.
