I hear a lot of conversations in the DoorDash community about what’s “our job” and what isn’t. Everyone has the right to run their business the way they choose. This is simply how I choose to run mine. Today I delivered to an assisted living facility. The customer was outside in a powered wheelchair when I arrived. I could’ve handed her the food and left, but instead I asked one simple question: “Would you like me to take it to your room?” She smiled and said, “Would you please?” A few seconds later, I was walking back where is the lemonade? I don't do haha. Okay. My damn self. So as I'm walking back out, she's coming in. She must have got the chair working. She looked at me and she said, thank you so much. That's why this job as most people do. I understand. Time is money. Every customer is not the same. Some people order because they don't feel like cooking and then some people order because they physically can't move. The seven years of working for Amazon, Kroger delivery, Fed Ex, DoorDash, Spark, you get to a point when you realize it's not just about delivering. It's about serving to me. That's what professionalism looks like. And I know many people are and that's your business, just like that's my business. But hey, it's been ya girl T. Karen with a T. Spongebob a little differently for those of you who don't know me. And I help DoorDashers gain clarity on their emotions. Make sure you save this and follow. I'll see you tomorrow. Peace.
