Apple puts this lawsuit out in the open. It's a multipurpose tool. The first is that the injunction will halt the forward progress of hardware development. If you go further and Apple actually wins this, it's gonna be massive fallout. Not only will people end up going to jail, there's gonna be a lot of lost trust in the community. As if OpenAI hasn't already lost an incredible amount of trust in the things that they've been doing over the last several years. Now you just burned a bridge with a trillion dollar company that actually is a technical titan in the valley. This isn't you screwing over a tiny little startup where people are gonna kind of lock that away and forget about it. This is a company that people love, right? You get the Apple fanboys and fangirls and they hear about this and now they're gonna be permanently jaded about OpenAI. They're probably gonna not use ChatGPT anymore because of this slight. And then that's gonna cascade to business relationships. Like this was such an egregious misstep. My only speculation is that OpenAI is in such a bad spot. They are basically pulling these Hail Marys. They're trying everything that they can to find a way out of the quagmire that they're in. There's gonna be some kind of outcome here. Apple's gonna win this given the historical precedence that Apple is generally not filing these types of things unless they are very certain about it. I suspect that they have a airtight case on this already. The culmination of the things that are going to go wrong for OpenAI, plus all the things that are already going wrong for OpenAI, this could literally be the nail in the coffin. It's that big. It could change the entire landscape of OpenAI's potential future.
