If you think Love Island USA was kind of boring this year because everyone literally closed off the first episode, I'm gonna make the case for why you need to binge watch Love Island UK right now. Love Island UK is having a generational run, and it literally makes Love Island USA this year look so boring. It looks like a PBS like Sunday Morning special. No hate to PBS, I love their journalism, just in comparison to the chaos that is Love Island. There's three main people that I'm watching right now on Love Island UK, and one of them, her name is Jasmine. She kind of has this, like, friendship with this guy Lorenzo, and like, they actually seem really compatible. Like, he cries when she cries, but, like, she's not really interested in him. She's really obsessed with this one guy named Kav. Everyone's obsessed with Kav and I have no idea why. Like, he's cute, but all the girls love Kav and this is who Jasmine is, like, so crashing out over and obsessed with. Now there's also this new bombshell named Julia, I guess. She's not a bombshell. She's a Casa girl. And I've never seen a Casa girl get this much, like, love and attention. Like, I mean she's great, but she's Julia's also being bullied by the other house guests, especially this girl Lola. But, like, Julia is gaining way more followers than everyone. That never happens with Casa Girls. And like, all of the, like, fan edits on TikTok are about Julia, and she's only been there for, like, three episodes. Like, she is blowing up right now. But the people on Love Island UK, I don't know if they're older than the cast of Love Island USA, but they just seem a lot more sure of themselves. They seem a lot more, like, confident and, like, when they have boundaries, like, these girls actually mean it. They're not, like, Melanie where they're just talking a big game to talk a big game. They actually will, like, cut these boys off or, like, hold them accountable, which is such a refreshing take from what we're seeing on Love Island USA. And yeah, I don't know if they're older, maybe they just look older, but the people on Love Island UK just seem to be a lot more, like, flushed out, and they're a little bit more, like, okay with confrontation than the people on Love Island USA just almost seemed so young that they just weren't as, like, sure of themselves, and so they all just avoided confrontation.
