What will be the next big trend in pop music & one sign that this new artist is about to blow up... If you wanna be ahead of the curve, there's one specific trend that's rising in music right now. And I actually think the organisers of Lollapalooza are fully tapped into this and know what they're doing. And before I go into this trend, I wanna say that trends are not one dimensional. Multiple trends can exist at once. The last couple of years in music, what really defined popularity was songwriting and storytelling. You saw it with the rise of Olivia Rodrigo and also just the domination of Taylor Swift and the era's tour. But culture really swings like a pendulum if you ever wanna track trends. And now we're seeing a shift towards something else. We're seeing this resurgence of athleticism in pop music and just the rise again of dancing. I think one artist that has always done this is Beyonce. But what's so fascinating is obviously Tate McRae headlined Lollapalooza on Sunday and her choreography, Robbie won an Emmy for her VMAs performance. They made history. The only other person who's ever been nominated, not even won, for a VMAs performance was Michael Jackson. But Robbie's World also worked with Adela, and the Lollapalooza organisers put her on before Tate McRae on the same stage. Adela is from Slovakia and got her start on Dream Academy, the making of KATSEYE, but became her own independent artist after getting dropped from the Dream Academy. She's classically trained in Ballet and wears ballet shoes in her performances. Which is something that no other pop star can hold a candle to: it something that makes her unique. I always say in marketing, figure out what makes you different and then amplify that by 100. Don't just chase the trends, do what you're good at. Having Adela perform before Tate McRae really felt like they understood Tate McRae's audience, that these are people that love athletic pop stars, popstars that are dancing again. And they she probably won over so many of Tate McRae's fans. And something I really love about Tate McRae is her saying that when it clicks for her is when she started making music she wanted to dance to because she is a classically trained dancer. I'm really fascinated at the science behind artists and where they get placed on festival lineups and how they really try to make the most of winning over the fans of whoever the headliners are. For example, I'm going to Outsidelands this weekend and Wet Leg is on a few performances before Charli XCX. So I feel like they're gonna try to win over that Charli audience. And I'm surprised Tate McRae has never been nominated for Grammy Best New Artist. I wonder if she will this year. And my eyes also on Adela getting a nomination.
