This will take you two minutes, but it will save you two hours. I'm gonna teach you how to time block. Hi, if you don't know me, my name is Megan and I share tiny ways to make life a little bit easier because I want everyday to feel like a Sunday. And unfortunately, in order to get that feeling, we have to do a little bit of something first. But I promise it won't take long. And I'm gonna buy you back loads of time. I'm someone who has a lot going on and a lot to do in a day. And I found that when I don't time block, I can lose four hours in a day to absolutely no idea what. I have to be really strategic with my time. But does everything get done? Yes, it does. Does it only take me minutes? Let's give that feeling to you. What's time blocking? Time blocking in a nutshell is planning out your time in chunks in your calendar. If you're not using a calendar, why not? The one I would recommend is Google Calendar. It's really easy to subcategorize if you want to color code it for different areas of your life. You can make it look really pretty because we're all about making things fun, right? In my Google Calendar, I have one color for work, one color for all of my routines and a color for absolutely everything else. The beauty of having it digitally, I've got it on my phone, my iPad, my laptop. I'm never without my diary. If I need to move some blocks around to fit something else in, I can easily do it without the stress of having to rub everything out on paper. Now you've got your Google Calendar set up. First, I want you to plot in your fixed commitments. Things that happen every week, every other week, every month. If it's fixed and doesn't change, pop it in the calendar first. First, like meetings, school pickups, you name it. Next, you're gonna plot in your tasks. I have clients that have certain hours of my time. All of my clients color coded. Yes, they are. This could be things like lessons, if you're a student, homework, hours with the kids, if you have children. That's just all the stuff you need to get done. Estimate how long it's gonna take, block it out in an hour and pop it in a good patch of time. Next was taking care of you. Stuff like workouts, making sure you're getting your three meals a day, making sure we're getting outside, and plotting out some time for yourself. Because in order to do absolutely everything else, we need to look after this one first. On the back burner, it will happen. Even if it's five minutes, I want it in the calendar. Personal resets. My personal preference of mine. Resets. I like to put my weekly resets in my calendar, my monthly, my six monthly. So I know when they need to get done. Because if I don't do them, life just seems to spiral into chaos. Clean food, I've got no washing, I've got no food in the fridge. Really inconvenient little annoying things built up over time, make you frustrated. If they become a routine and are in my calendar, I'm sure they get done. Plot your logistics. There is no point plotting in your Sunday reset from two hours away from home, especially if you're someone who has to car share like me. How long does it take to get to the train station? Can I get a lift from this person? Travel takes time. Enjoy your free time. Enjoy space. That stuff that has absolutely no plans. Who loves routine but also finds it restrictive? Five days a week, I am a routine based girly and I like to have absolutely nothing on the weekends so that I can do whatever I want with my time.
