Number one, if you want to visit some of Florence's food spots automatically, don't just join the longest queue. A lot of them have easy alternatives. So if you want to grab a sandwich, get a sandwich at this place. They have several locations across the city. You don't have to visit the original one. And if you're going for an affogato at this place, they have an ice cream shop right next door. It's the exact same thing without the wait. That being said, Florence has so many amazing sandwiches and affogato places that are not all over social media, but are just as good. Number two, book tickets ASAP. And don't panic if your slot is sold out. I know you've heard it before, but the galleries and academia, they really do sell out weeks in advance. That said, if your preferred time is already taken, don't panic. Guided tours often have slots available until the day of. And it's always worth checking the official ticket sellers too, because they do release extra tickets from time to time. Number three, consider where you want to stay before booking. If it's your first time in Florence, staying near the historic center really makes sightseeing really the same. And if you'd rather have quieter streets, amazing restaurants, I'd recommend hotel prices in this area instead. And if you arrive back by car, definitely can't drive through most of the historic center.
