In part three of welding a broken sawmill band saw blade together, our newly welded bandsaw blade is ready for testing! Now, as many helpful commenters have mentioned, the welded area of the blade should be annealed. But, I don't have a torch at the moment so we're testing the blade without it. All we gotta do is throw the blade on our Woodland Mills saw mill and let 'er run. Hopefully we come out the other side in one piece.

Time to test our newly welded blade. Just kidding, I'm fine. Now a lot of people have been commenting that I need to anneal the blade. Remember to anneal it after welding. I don't think it'll work unless you temper it. Tig and anneal it after you weld. have to anneal the steel back to soften it but should work But I don't have a torch on hand at the moment. So we're gonna throw caution to the wind. And we're gonna test it as is. Who really needs science anyway? Bunch of nerds in their books and their math and their calculations and proof of stuff. I don't need it. Alright, so we've got our blade back into the sawmill. And it seems to be tracking pretty well. No hang-ups or rubbing that I can see. So let's close it up just in case it wants to explode into my face. Now we'll just get this baby cranking. If anything happens, I leave everything to my cat. Now, the saw blade survived. And sure, it was a small cut. Get out of my way. But I thought it was gonna break immediately. And surprisingly, the cut is very even and smooth. So now I know if I'm ever in a pinch, I can just weld these bad boys back together. Although I can't imagine that this blade is gonna last for too long. I'll probably run it through a few more cuts just to see. But now, I'm very happy with this result. And we kept all of our fingers. If I'd lost any, your mother would have been devastated.
